Nutritional medicine is a field of complementary and holistic medicine that focuses on dietary and lifestyle interventions for optimal health outcomes. Clinical nutritionists have an evidence-based, in-depth understanding of the human body, through this understanding nutritional medicine is utilised to provide relief of symptoms and help prevent disease. This is achieved by determining the root causes of disease and by treating the body and person as a whole.
I have a Masters and Bachelors degree in Health Science, majoring in Nutritional Medicine and Health Management. I am also an accredited member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society, who advocates for continual professional development for their practitioners through further study and education.
Natural Medicine and nutritional consultations are not currently covered my Medicare. Private health fund rebates depends on the level of cover you have, as to whether you are eligible for a rebate.
Right now, all consultations at OROCCA are conducted online. Private health funds do not provide rebates for online consultations. Please fill in our contact (https://www.orocca.com.au/contact)form to be to be notified when this changes.
We always start with an Initial Consultation to understand and assess your needs and identify your health priorities, which will help us develop an action plan or a treatment program specifically for you.
We then follow-up on your response to the treatment plan, arrange for further testing or investigations (if needed), and review how the plan is working for you.
As you advance, we then transition to maintaining your momentum and setting you up for a sustainable healthy lifestyle.
This is different for each individual and depends on your current health status, your objectives and the recommended treatment. I usually like to each each client at least 2 - 3 times within a 2 - 4 month timeframe initially to get an in-depth understanding of your needs and to create a bespoke plan specifically for you. This includes formulating a treatment plan, monitoring your progress, and adjusting your treatment plan in your follow-up consultations.
Yes, we do. For any pathology that your GP won't cover under Medicare, I can write you a private referral. I will assess your symptoms before recommending any testing.
Further to standard pathology, I believe that functional testing when used appropriately, provides great insight into what is going on at a deeper level. This allows us to treat and target specific conditions successfully. Common functional tests used within the clinic includes SIBO test, complete digestive stool analysis and HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis).
Yes, absolutely! The practice is based online so we are able to see clients almost anywhere in the world. However, please note that our insurance doesn't cover overseas clients.
